ONE STATEMENT, DECEMBER 1-31, 2025
"In an effort to promote themselves and make themselves feel better, some people gloat over the seeming misfortune of others. Not realizing that God is always at work, and that He is in the process of doing something great in people's lives. But that the growth and maturity that come with it are only available to those humble enough to recognize that we each have our time; to each of us is given grace, patience and wisdom; and for each of us a prize awaits, commensurate to how much we have made this life better for others."
SHEDDING SOME SCALES:
somebody wrote that this year 2025, the year of the snake in
eastern traditions, is a year of shedding...
seems true, as I also noticed erstwhile friends and
acquaintances becoming suddenly exclusive and silent, out of contact or out of
reach, seeing but not reacting...
oh, well, this dragon is shedding scales too...
so to former friends, recent and old, I dedicate 2025 to
you...
thank you for the notice and the likes and the friendships
that were...
meanwhile, I promise to God to run with 2026's headwinds,
and face the future with something new, and with those that remain solid and
steady, steadfast and true, in this journey to eternity and beyond...
"God's people are one spirit in many bodies, united in
love of Him and for the least and the weak, for the different, for the other,
for those who look, believe and behave differently; with one unique marker--a
life-changer, life-preserver, life-improver and hope-giver like His Son, our
Savior, Jesus Christ."
Pero seriously, and on a sadder note, I've met several
people before, when I was still working full time as corporate accountant, who
belittle those of us who teach part time, asking if the money we earn as
full-time accountants is not enough that we have to "sideline" yet,
when the sideline pay is even that minuscule...
How can I explain to them, without condescension, that THAT
'Minuscule Pay' is what gave me Humanity as an accountant?
How can one tell these 'proud ignorants', that whether
part-time or full-time, teaching is a vocation, priceless, a more jealous
mistress than the Law, which demands your entire soul and spirit, next to God?
And the story of Christmas is the story of a refugee family
too...
May we let this uncomfortable but enlightening truth sink in...
"The best gift is the one we give selflessly. The best
talent is the one done without pay. The best work is the one rendered in
love."
"People may ignore us, even our loved ones may
sometimes forget our value. But in the eyes of our Heavenly Father, we are
always precious."
"We can only forgive if the other person is genuinely
sorry and regretful and would not do the same hurt or offense again. Otherwise,
we may only ignore, forget, or take a pass at reconnecting again."
"The world is physically and geographically big for us,
but it has become smaller in reach, with technology. However, being a child of
God doesn't change. Have we lived that faith every day? Do people feel we have
the same love and sense of community, even with people who don't believe the
same way we do, who don't look like us, who don't move within our crowd, and
who don't subscribe to our tastes and preferences?"
"Know your prayers and make them known to the Heavenly
Father alone. Keep them in your heart, but live them, keeping your heart on
your sleeve. For God always listens more to intention rather than be impressed
by demonstration."
"Trials and tests make us stronger; celebrating with
friends and loved ones make us happier and smarter. May we all find time to
celebrate life's milestones and little moments with those that give us meaning
and hope, peace and joy."
