ONE STATEMENT, OCTOBER 1-31, 2025
"Joseph forgave his brothers because they are family;
and his brothers have repented and changed their envious ways. But there are
people who are greedy and selfish, superior and condescending, self-righteous
and judgmental, who always make it a point to have their opinions, ways and
beliefs known. They barely even know you, and yet, their words and actions
deeply impact you, making you question the inherent goodness that God
supposedly embedded in humanity. They're supposed to have wisdom and empathy,
especially with their life status and educational achievements, and should be
in the process of maturing and learning to understand others; but it seems they
barely know these, and are not even aware of their ignorance and folly. Such is
their uselessness to civilized society so that when something bad happens to
them, you are often tempted to say, 'good riddance'. Unfortunately, that
attitude only stresses the one thinking about it, while those idiots with the
wealth, the degrees and licenses, happily go clueless along their merry ways.
May we then, like Joseph, instead of dwelling on the offense these pretend
geniuses dispense generously every time they open their mouths, make the most
of whatever situation we may find ourselves in. For after all, when we 'enter
into the sanctuary' of our Father's temple, when we go inside even just of
ourselves and let our Maker reveal Himself to us, we remember that rudeness,
cruelty, condescension, abuse and oppression, greed and selfishness will have
their due punishments. These kinds of evil will have their due, and those who
were offended and oppressed will always receive their just rewards."
True, kids are smarter now...
But it seems many parents think that's enough...
While they get distracted on social media themselves, they
think it wise not to "discipline" their children, 'sparing the rod',
considering it abuse, and probably believing that since kids are tech-savvy,
they are life-ready and street-smart too, which are actually farthest from the
truth...
Yes, while it's true that some parents are abusive, and
shouldn't have been given the right to raise children themselves, but please
remember, children are tactile learners...
They learn not just by the words we say, but the tone in
which we say it, by our body language, and the right kind of touch that conveys
love and care for their well-being...
"The same God and Savior that calmed the storm, will
calm our shaking hearts when the ground quakes and trembles."
"A well-respected pastor said that if you're a church
minister, you are working for the highest authority in the Universe--God;
therefore, running for public office means you are belittling your eternal
responsibility and work for God's kingdom. True, and it might even be idolatry
in itself, as a public official, because it seems working for God is not enough
for you, that you still need earthly political power, position and wealth to
validate your status in life. And we know politics is dirty and corrupt, so to
join that fray, one has to make sure one is not absorbed in the system. But
using the same playbook, the same language--verbally and bodily, the same
circles of friends and allies, as those legally and judiciously convicted by
the courts to be corrupt, but eventually pardoned due to mercy at their
theatrical illnesses, means that you have sold your soul to the enemy.
Furthermore, to lie to your teeth that you are innocent, but your hands are
caught through evidence, as bloodied by the lives and livelihoods lost due to
the negligence and corruption of your syndicated system, means you are in so
deep. If God had mercy on ignorant Nineveh, how much more will He not hear the
cries of the innocent from whom you have stolen livelihoods and futures because
of your greed? May God have mercy on us all, but may we not forget the words of
our Savior, that someday, the poor (and victimized) will be given justice;
while the hypocritical corrupt and greedy, and generations of their family and
beneficiaries, will soon stew in the punishment they deserve."
"If we claim to be children of God, our words and
actions should reflect His light, and should manifest hope and life."
"Even with all that's happening around us, leading to
an uncomfortable-but-now-becoming-familiar existential crisis for so many, we
can still thank our Heavenly Father for giving us life.
And with that, hope, that we can rebuild better, that things
will eventually work out for good. May we not forget this one foundation of
faith, and may this inspire us to move and do our best in each precious
moment."
"What we say, what we claim to have achieved, what we
plan and still work on achieving, are proven by our integrity."
"If only corrupt people have half the mind... Seeing as
in our country's case, it has eroded trust not only in government but in our
very own economy, so that we are now a discouragement and a bane to creditors
and investors, discontent by the greater majority is simmering, and more loss
of jobs are coming with the great country's threat to pull outsourcing and
offshore work... If only our people have half the mind, not to support certain
celebrities that have no idea what they're doing, dynasties that couldn't get
enough of power and purse, and nepotists that promise them favors but are
actually only scamming them for their votes and for the nation's coffers...
Good governance is more called for now, actually a paradigm that had been there
for the past two decades at least, but which many of us who brag about high
education and English literacy are not even aware of... Proving once again that
we are at least a couple of generations behind in literacy, critical thinking,
and administration... May we heed the Word now, that we may not bring greater
destruction unto our own people and land... May we be more educated, more
aware, more confident, less resigned of being used and abused... Yes, it is
always good to be humble, but also to be honest, generous and wise, and to
fight for and uphold truth, justice, fairness and right; as our Savior
reminded, to be both humble as doves and wise as serpents... Indeed, the meek
inherit the earth, but will they be alive and whole when that time comes and
not broken in mind, soul and spirit? And before we even think about whether
there is an earth to inherit, let us make sure we are not destroyers of it
first, and the lives and livelihoods that live off it."
"We all have our limits; but that is not reason not to
live life to the best that we can, and give all that we can, to make it better
for not just us but everyone."
"Nowadays, with so many relief efforts ongoing for our
brothers and sisters up north causing terrible road traffic congestion, it's
easy to throw shade at other people's efforts, especially if they love
documenting and flexing about it on social media; but the one who's throwing
shade is ranting it on social media too, not thinking that they're flexing too.
I guess -bragging has many sides, proud-, humble-, and the age-old
sour-graping. Human nature has proven that this sometimes comes to those who
feel they are entitled to a certain privilege of being on the spotlight, but
then to realize that the light has moved on to a different spot. Yes, as
humans, we need affirmation. But may that affirmation not come with likes or
patronage, but because we did our part to give life and hope to those in need;
light, wisdom, and even a certain clean humor to those in the dark pits of
despair and depression. And even if we suffer in our honest efforts to help and
are inconvenienced for it, that is a suffering for doing good, which our
zealous apostle Peter said is commendable in the eyes of God. Affirmed too, by
our Savior in the beatitudes. Let us reiterate that, 'may our suffering be for
doing good, for being just, for upholding truth, fairness, and right'".
"Nature, our Father's perfect creation that moves in
right cadence, has exposed the weaknesses and vanity of our misplaced
allegiance to corrupt people damaging our government and institutions. And with
the calamities that follow, many of us become migrants in our own land--some
lose their lives, but many more uprooted from our places of comfort, into
situations and places that call on our own set of survival skills, grit,
fortitude and hope. Seeing our example in the young life of our Savior, may we
therefore heed His beatitudes: to live a life of humility and honesty, to not
steal or lie or defraud others, to be content and generous with what we have.
For even if churches made of stone be destroyed, but may our faith in our
Father grow stronger still. For just as we are not at a loss of fellowmen who
help those in most dire need, how much more are we not at a loss of love and
mercy and grace, safety and provision, peace and confidence, in our Heavenly
Father who holds our lives in His hands?"
"It cannot be helped. In times of calamities and
tragedies, the first emotion is fear. But if our faith is rooted in something
true and pure, wisdom kicks in. Then prayers, resulting to meaningful action,
and inspired reaction. May we always hold on to wisdom, that in every word we
say, and in everything we do, lives will be saved, souls will be given hope,
and faith in our God, and in His goodness implanted in the hearts of our
fellowmen and women, will shine through and become blessings."
