SUPREME WISDOM July 7, 2020
Some officemates were talking about how life has changed under the
pandemic. It seems that they share the
sentiments of many worldwide, who feel depressed with how things are going, how
we are not so free to move around and bond with friends and family anymore, how
we are all afraid and stressed, and how it is difficult to understand and
accept that things may never go back to what they were before CoViD-19.
We are grateful that we still have paid work and that our boss is extremely
generous with us, fully supporting us and reminding us from time to time, to
take care of ourselves, to disinfect always, to always wear the proper
protective equipment, and to keep ourselves and our families healthy and safe. It is just sad to think that many people
around the world, many of them we also know personally, have lost their jobs
because of the effects of the pandemic.
One can only pray that GOD will sustain us all, and protect us so we can
still fulfill our mission and our obligations to our loved ones.
No human words could fully probe the depths of the wisdom behind why we
are all suffering now and why our trials and tribulations seem to never end,
but instead seem to grow in number and intensity. Thankfully, we have the written Word of GOD
to remind us that indeed, we are in the last days. And yes, we may try to numb the pain and the
hurt from all the suffering we are going through by immersing in social media,
but it could never give us solace and hope that only comes from the peace which
GOD promised in His Word.
We read today in the first epistle of the Apostle Paul to the
Corinthians, chapter 1, how he rebuked them on church divisions that arise from
differences in interpretations and preachings from different church personalities. It kind of mirrors what we are going through
now. There are task forces on the
CoViD-19 management, and there are local government units, and too often both
do not agree on how to administer and manage the pandemic, to disastrous
results.
However, the Apostle reminded us that the gospel is simple, yet
profound, so that those people who think they are wise have a hard time
accepting it, and believing its message.
There is salvation, and it can only be obtained by accepting Jesus
Christ as Lord and Savior. His death on
the cross paved the way for the remission or forgiveness of our sins. His resurrection three days and three nights
later, is the first fruit of GOD’s promise that in spite of the trials we are
facing daily, even up to the point of death, there is life after death for us,
and this will last throughout all eternity.
Therefore, we cannot boast of our own strength, because our optimum
strength is weaker than the weakest in GOD’s kingdom. We cannot boast of our wealth, for we cannot
bring them with us to the grave, no matter how many paper mansions or paper
monies we burn during burial. We cannot
boast of our power and authority, for without GOD willing it so, none of those
things will come our way. We cannot boast of our wisdom, for apart from GOD, we
have no wisdom of our own. He knows best
what He plans for us, and He will make it happen. He who was there since the beginning and who
will be there until the end, will fulfill His promise to protect us and keep
our souls.
In the last couple of verses in the chapter, we read, “But of Him you
are in Christ Jesus, who of GOD is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and
sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He who
glories, let him glory in the Lord.” No
matter the difficulties we are facing now, we can have peace and confidence,
because even if we do not understand, our GOD will give us wisdom to
understand. He will deliver us, redeem
us, and sanctifies or seals and sets us apart for His own. He is GOD, our Creator, our Savior, our
Healer, our Lord, the source of our hope, confidence and peace, and one who is
our Supreme Wisdom.
